This vintage Italian glass mosaic bar pin is made of scores of tiny tiles (or tesserae) meticulously hand-placed in patterns. The oval bar is 1 5/8" long and ˝" wide. The brass frame has tiny balls around the edge and contains four semicircular motifs of looped tiles of white with blue accents. The center circle contains a pink and white flower with tiny forget-me-nots of baby blue and white, each a single slice from a fancy glass cane. The spaces between these motifs are filled by minute bricks of blue/white and red/white/blue tiles.
The back of the pin is stamped "Italy" and has a C-clasp firmly held soldered in place. This dainty marvel of mosaic art is in wonderful condition.
