This dainty and intricate confection of sterling silver wires was hand-made using a filigree technique that dates back centuries: all to showcase a darling glazed Delft porcelain tile with windmill scene. The bracelet is about 7" long on the inside of the contoured links. The center panel is 13/16" high. The domed tile is hand-painted with a view of a windmill and farm house on a jetty of land with the reflection of a distant building in the water in the forefront.
The back is signed by hand in Dutch with "Delfts" (sometimes misread Delfi). This signifies the piece was done by Cornelis Verwoerd, about 1950-1953, an early work from this master.
The spring-ring clasp secures with a soldered ring which has four hallmarks; very small, and the plain "sword" mark indicates the bracelet was made prior to 1953. (Delft jewelry with more than one hallmark is older and more highly desired by collectors.) The bracelet does test positive as sterling. The condition is wonderful and the charm is undeniable.
This is a specially priced estate consignment item and does not qualify for further store discount, however, most store items do. New pieces arrive each day so please take time for a browse!
