This vintage glass mosaic pin from Italy places pure white daisies or "marguerites" on a lovely cornflower blue background. The oval, gold-plated filigree setting is 1 5/8" wide and 1 3/8" high.
Easy tiny glass tile (or tesserae) is cut from a larger cane: some in solid color bars, the daisy centers in shaded rounds, and the tiny wildflowers are completely floriform in cross-section. Hours of labor went into this simple yet significant mini artwork
The back is stamped "Italy" and has a safety clasp pin. And, yes, this pretty patch of posies is in excellent, unworn condition, complete with original plastic box. The colorless lid (partial crack) shows the mosaic was purchased in Roma and the back is gold-stamped "Ancora, Via Conciliazione."
