A 1 3/16" high-relief pewter commemorative medal. Coin commemorates the July 15, 1975 launch of the first international manned space mission. The Apollo Soyuz test project was the final flight of the Apollo program.
The medals were struck for NASA by the L. G. Balfour Company of Massachusetts. These medals were made for distribution to NASA and space industry employees that worked on the missions. The designs were taken from sketches and photographs approved by NASA artist and technicians associated with each mission. Medals were struck in both sterling silver and pewter for the various Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions. Medal is in mint condition, and it's original plastic case is included. L.G. Balfour is impressed into the plastic on backside of case. Backside of medal depicts same graphic, with all wording in Russian. Shipping: $1.75 1st class mail.
