This shoushan stone carving is an amazingly detailed work of old Chinese art dating from the Qing Dynasty (Kangxi period 1662-1722). Shoushan stone is a valuable stone gleaned from the gem mines located at northern Fu Zhou of Fu Jian province of China. The stone was formed by volcanic activity giving a wide array of natural colours and textures. The artist who created this piece was truly masterful at incorporating the natural layers of the stone into the design of the carving. It measures 8.5 in. by 6 in. by 2 in. and is in excellent condition, with no major cracks or chips. This beautiful carving also comes with its own lacquered carved wood base. Please check out the pictures, as they accurately represent the condition. Thank you for looking and feel free to use the "contact us" button if you have any questions.
