This lovely mid Showa era (ca 1950) hanging scroll is adorned with a landscape scene in the snow featuring a rare five storied Pagoda. While some five-storied pagodas still exist in Japan today, all of them are designated as cultural heritage sites or national treasures. This painting is done on silk and mounted on a silk brocade scroll backing with bone roller ends. The painting is signed, but I have not been able to tranlate the signature. It measures 76.5 inches long by 21 inches wide and is truly beautiful when hanging. There is some minor dirt and staining, and the only damage is to the mounting as shown in the photographs. Please check out the pictures, as they accurately represent the condition. Thank you for looking and feel free to use the "contact us" button if you have any questions.
