This lovely early Showa era (ca 1930) hanging scroll is adorned with a fantastically detailed temple scene. This painting is done on silk and mounted on a silk brocade scroll backing with unusual lacquered wood roller ends. The painting is signed, but I have not been able to tranlate the signature. It measures 74 inches long by 18 inches wide and is truly impressive when hanging. The detail shown in the rendering of the temple buildings is remarkable. There is some dirt and staining commensurate with the age. Please check out the pictures, as they accurately represent the condition.
