This is a vintage Chinese decorative lacquerware vase dating from the 1950's. It has the classic bottle shape and the ground is a beautiful gold and black flecked color. The decoration consists of flowers and birds done in mother of pearl. This impressive piece stands 15.5 inches tall and is 6.5 inches in diameter. We can't tell what the base material is, but it doesn't appear to be porcelain, pottery or metal. It may be turned wood or some compostion material, since it is lightweight for its size, about two pounds. It is in good condition with a couple of minor chips to the lacquer on the lip.
