F6MAY13-5

Small USA Pottery Blue Elephant Planter Small USA Pottery Blue Elephant Planter measuring 3 3/4'' long and 3 1/4'' tall. Unmarked with dry, flat bottom. Definitely vintage USA pottery, possibly Shawnee or Brush-McCoy as the Sanford's Guide to Brush McCoy pictures picture a very similar one, but the angle and size make it difficult to say for sure. No chips, cracks or crazing, just the usual manufacturing glaze skips and pops.

T10OCT02-9

Brush-McCoy Blue and White Stoneware Holland Pitcher Antique Brush-McCoy Pottery Blue and White Stoneware #330 Holland Jug Pitcher. Brush-McCoy made this pitcher in 1925. The old potteries did not typically sign their wares until the late 1930s, so this is not marked Brush-McCoy. It is marked with an in-mold #330 on the bottom and pictured in the Sanfords' Guide to Brush-McCoy pottery, Book 1, 1996 edition, page 29 (1996 BV $265-300.00) and called the 1925 #330 Holland Jug. The pitcher has a thickly embossed decoration on the top and bottom rim with a soft, mottled blue. The center has a stencil of Holland windmills, children and puppy. This heavy stoneware pitcher measures 7'' tall, 7'' wide spout to handle and 6 1/2'' bottom diameter. There are no chips noted. There is visible age related crazing on the inside bottom (see pics), three visible old hairlines extending from the rim (they are stable and pitcher rings soundly when tapped). There is also a faint hairline on the base which appears to be superficial--only in the glaze. Because this is an old American piece of stoneware, there are drips of dark blue paint in a few areas and glaze pops/bulges from manufacturing. This pitcher is in overall very good vintage condition--a perfect piece would most likely be a reproduction--as these pieces were used everyday.

Click for more detail...

F8MAR29-9

Brush-McCoy Brown Onyx 8'' Urn Vase This Brush McCoy Pottery's Brown Onyx Urn Vase is pictured in the Sanfords Brush-McCoy Pottery book 1, page 45 and notes as 8'' Wide Urn. It actually measures 8 1/2' wide, including handles, 7'' front to back and 6 1/4'' tall. It is unmarked and has the stilt marks on the base common to the earlier brown onyx pieces. There is a small area on the inner rim where the glaze does not cover--possibly rubbed off, but may be original from factory. It's not noticeable because of the blended colors, but you can feel it when rubbing. This is a beautiful example of Brush McCoy's Brown Onxy Collection

Click for more detail...

FDEC31-2-1151518330

Brush-McCoy ? Pink Pottery Vase Pretty Pink Vase with fluted top and folded bows on each side. This vase is marked USA and a number (hard to see) possibly 805 or 705. It is not marked Brush but most likely is. There is a vase, circa 1940, pictured in Sanfords Brush-McCoy Pottery guide, Book 1, page 90 which is all but identical but the size and mold number are different. However the books don't show all the pieces the companies made. (Shawnee would be the other possibility but is not shown in my book on Shawnee Pottery). Regardless of the maker, this is a pretty vintage USA pottery vase, It measures 7 1/4'' tall and has no chips, cracks, etc. It does have the usual USA pottery glaze skips, pinpoint pops and a couple of little specks of extra clay. Very nice addition to any USA pottery collection.

It is marked with the incised 320 U.S.A. 6 and measures 5 1/2'' tall with a 6'' top diameter. It has the usual American pottery flaws as well as 3 spots that look like nail indentions that occurred during manufacture. It has some visible age related crazing. From the top rim there there appears to be a faint pencil thin hairline. It is the darkening of a craze line with no separation, the glaze is smooth and intact. This a nice, heavy, solid piece of vintage USA pottery.

PPBRUSH-1

Sleeping Kitten and Boot Figural Planter This Sleeping Kitten and Boot Planter is unmarked but is definitely vintage American pottery. It is most likely Brush-McCoy (has the muted, air-brushed colors and 2 wedge-shaped raised feet on the base common to them). The other possible suspects are American Bisque or Royal Copely. Regardless of the maker this is an adorable little planter. There is the slightest hint of faint age crazing but no chips, cracks or hairlines.

Brush McCoy Brown Onyx Glaze Lamp Base Old Double Handled Brush-McCoy Pottery Lamp Base in a blended brown drip / onyx glaze over a brown base. The lamp base measures 9 1/2'' tall and 7 1/2'' wide, handle to handle. It has the usual vintage USA pottery drips, skips and plops from manufacture. No chips, cracks or hairlines--the white areas are camera glare. The old lamp hardware and wiring are intact but all old lamps definitely should be rewired. These old USA pottery lamp bases are hard to find.
