F6MAR01-5

Vintage Turquoise Bauer ? Ring Ware Pottery Pitcher Vintage Turquoise Ring Ware Pottery Pitcher. This pitcher measures 5'' tall and holds 24 ounces. It is unmarked, but is most similar to the Bauer pitcher pictured in Chipman's book on California pottery. (The early Bauer pitchers from the 1930s were unmarked.) Bauer made several sizes of pitchers and some originally had lids, which this does not. It has three stilt marks on the bottom. Except for faint age-related crazing and a small glaze flake on the interior this pitcher is in very good condition. Other competing California companies like Pacific and Garden City Pottery also made similar ring ware pitchers during the first part of the last century. This is a very nice vintage ring ware pitcher that seem to be difficult to find.

F6OCT13-1

Matte Blue Bauer? Duck Figurine This Vintage Matte Blue Duck Figurine has some of the original orange cold paint remaining on the bill and feet. It has a flat, dry bottom and measures 4 1/2'' long and 2 1/8'' tall. I've seen this figurine identified as Bauer. There is a smeared black mark, a combination of a stamp and black grease pencil I cannot read, so I cannot say for sure. This little matte blue duck figurine is in very good condition.

KAY507

Marc Bellaire Pitcher This large golden, pumpkin-colored pitcher with black funky, floral design is signed by famous fifties California designer, Marc Bellaire on the front. The bottom is signed F. Long, Class of Marc Bellaire, 1969. During the 1960s he held classes at his studio. This is obviously a product of those classes. It measures 10 1/2'' tall and 7'' in diameter (not including handle). There is a small, shallow chip near the spout--see pics (you could dab a little paint to cover if you wish but we sell as found) and an area on the rim where the gold glaze has rubbed. My sister was fortunate to find this pitcher. It is difficult to find signed Marc Bellaire pieces (in our area at least) so you will definitely want to add this to your collection.

Click for more detail...

F6APR01-15

Vintage Kay Finch Planter Vase Vintage Franciful Kay Finch Window Box Planter in creamy off-white color with gold accents on an embossed leaf-like design. This planter is large, measuring 14'' long, 5'' wide and 5'' tall. Marked on bottom with an ink-stamped Kay Finch, California. In good condition with just some very faint age crazing visible overall. On one of the short interior walls some of the crazing lines have darkened from use--please see the pictures--but this planter displays very well. The gold accents were difficult to photograph especially on the bottom rim which show some camera glare. According to Jack Chipman's book of California pottery, Kay Finch Ceramics was one of the most successful and respected of the California commercial artware studios during the 1940s and 1950s. She opened her studio in 1939 and closed it after the death of her husband in 1963. Her son, George is credited with designing most of the non-figural ware. This chic, contemporary design planter will be a wonderful addition to a Californial pottery or Kay Finch collection.

TAPR01-15

Freeman McFarlin Mod Vase Freeman-McFarlin was one of the many California Pottery companies founded with the partnership of Maynard Anthony Freeman and Gerald H. McFarlin after World War II. After several ownership changes, the company was purchased by Hagen-Renaker in 1980. This vase has a glossy, green drip glaze and mod, mid-century styling common to the fifties and sixties era. The original Freeman McFarlin Originals, El Monte California, foil label remains. There are a small couple of extra plops of clay on one side from manufacture. Vase measures 7 1/8'' tall and 5 3/4'' in diameter and is in very good condition.

This unique vase is likely from the 1940s-50s era when California had hundreds of small, family-owned potteries operating.
