F6MAR01-5

Vintage Turquoise Bauer ? Ring Ware Pottery Pitcher Vintage Turquoise Ring Ware Pottery Pitcher. This pitcher measures 5'' tall and holds 24 ounces. It is unmarked, but is most similar to the Bauer pitcher pictured in Chipman's book on California pottery. (The early Bauer pitchers from the 1930s were unmarked.) Bauer made several sizes of pitchers and some originally had lids, which this does not. It has three stilt marks on the bottom. Except for faint age-related crazing and a small glaze flake on the interior this pitcher is in very good condition. Other competing California companies like Pacific and Garden City Pottery also made similar ring ware pitchers during the first part of the last century. This is a very nice vintage ring ware pitcher that seem to be difficult to find.

F6APR01-15

Vintage Kay Finch Window Box Planter Vintage Franciful Kay Finch Window Box Planter in creamy off-white color with gold accents on an embossed leaf-like design. This planter is large, measuring 14'' long, 5'' wide and 5'' tall. Marked on bottom with an ink-stamped Kay Finch, California. In good condition with just some very faint age crazing visible overall. On one of the short interior walls some of the crazing lines have darkened from use--please see the pictures--but this planter displays very well. The gold accents were difficult to photograph especially on the bottom rim which show some camera glare. According to Jack Chipman's book of California pottery, Kay Finch Ceramics was one of the most successful and respected of the California commercial artware studios during the 1940s and 1950s. She opened her studio in 1939 and closed it after the death of her husband in 1963. Her son, George is credited with designing most of the non-figural ware. This chic, contemporary design planter will be a wonderful addition to a Californial pottery or Kay Finch collection.

F6OCT13-1

Matte Blue Bauer? Duck Figurine This Vintage Matte Blue Duck Figurine has some of the original orange cold paint remaining on the bill and feet. It has a flat, dry bottom and measures 4 1/2'' long and 2 1/8'' tall. I've seen this figurine identified as Bauer. There is a smeared black mark, a combination of a stamp and black grease pencil I cannot read, so I cannot say for sure. This little matte blue duck figurine is in very good condition.

PPCALIF-4

Vintage Johannes Brahm Covered Candy Box Vintage Johannes Brahm Covered Candy Box or Dresser Box in a dark, forest green color with heavily applied roses in the style of Capo di Monte on the cover. It is marked Johannes Brahm, California, USA 475 on the bottom. Johannes Brahm was another California pottery that operated in the 1940s and 1950s making figurines, gift ware and florist ware. This candy or dresser box has a paint flake on the inner rim of the box, a rubbed area on the bottom side and 4 small flakes on flowers--an unfortunately too common event with these thin, delicately applied decorations. If you wish you could dab a touch of paint to cover the little flaws or just enjoy it as is. The price has been reduced substantially. These Brahm's candy boxes are valued at $65.00+ in my California pottery book.

PPCALIF-5

Cali Crown Pottery Covered Cigarette or Dresser Box This Covered Cigarette or Dresser Box was made by Cali Crown Pottery, another of the California pottery companies. This style of cigarette or candy box was quite popular in the 1940s and 1950s. It is in a dark, forest green with an intricately detailed rose applied to the cover. It is marked Cali Crown USA 800. They are prone to chips because of the thin and delicate nature of the applied decorations. The only flaw I see is the underside of one petal has been nipped. You could touch it up if you wish, but it's on the underside of the petal and not that noticeable. This pretty box was originally designed to hold cigarettes (or emergency chocolates) but also is useful as a pin or dresser box.

KAY507

Large Signed Marc Bellaire Pitcher This large golden, pumpkin-colored pitcher with black funky, floral design is signed by famous fifties California designer, Marc Bellaire on the front. The bottom is signed F. Long, Class of Marc Bellaire, 1969. During the 1960s he held classes at his studio. This is obviously a product of those classes. It measures 10 1/2'' tall and 7'' in diameter (not including handle). There is a small, shallow chip near the spout--see pics (you could dab a little paint to cover if you wish but we sell as found) and an area on the rim where the gold glaze has rubbed. My sister was fortunate to find this pitcher. It is difficult to find signed Marc Bellaire pieces (in our area at least) so you will definitely want to add this to your collection.

TAPR01-15

Freeman McFarlin Mod Green Drip Footed Vase Freeman-McFarlin was one of the many California Pottery companies founded with the partnership of Maynard Anthony Freeman and Gerald H. McFarlin after World War II. After several ownership changes, the company was purchased by Hagen-Renaker in 1980. This vase has a glossy, green drip glaze and mod, mid-century styling common to the fifties and sixties era. The original Freeman McFarlin Originals, El Monte California, foil label remains. There are a small couple of extra plops of clay on one side from manufacture. Vase measures 7 1/8'' tall and 5 3/4'' in diameter and is in very good condition.

Mel's California Chartreuse Vase with Etched Rooster Mel's California Pottery Vase with a Glossy Colored Bisque Exterior with an Etched Rooster Design. The bottom has a stamped mark which is hard to read. Vase measures 6 1/2'' long, 4 1/4'' wide and 4 1/8'' tall. No chips, cracks or crazing. There is a small paint pop off on the base. This unique vase is likely from the 1940s-50s era when California had hundreds of small, family-owned potteries operating.

F7DEC02-6

Modern Style Green Mixing Bowl This is a very sleek, modern styled mixing bowl (or serving bowl) with the clean-lined appearance prevalent during the 1950s-1960s era. The only legible marking is Ovenproof USA stamped in the center--there is a hint on an underlying mark but it is too faint (BPA or 3PA). I believe it is from one of the California potteries--maybe Vernon Kilns or Metlox. The color is a soft pale green (more blue/green) with small dark specks. It measures 7 3/4'' in diameter and 4 3/4'' tall. It is in very good condition with just a manufacturing glaze skip (top outer rim) and tiny skip on the inside bottom and a tiny glaze pop on the bottom edge. This bowl has visible ridges from being turned on a potters wheel. If anyone has any clues as to the maker, please let me know.
