Vintage McCoy Pottery Green Cuspidor in the Grapes pattern. This cuspidor is shown in the Brush-McCoy and McCoy reference books. It is shown on the BM catalog pages from 1916 and in later years until the 1950s (the later ones were marked McCoy). This Grapes Cuspidor is one of the older pieces--it is unmarked and the clay is the darker tan color from the earlier years. It is heavy, solid and measures 5'' tall and 7 1/2'' in diameter. There is some faint crazing and a small glaze flake on the bottom rim. It does have the usual USA / McCoy pottery glaze runs and skips. While you could use it as it was originally intended--I won't tell--this McCoy Grapes Cuspidor makes a very nice vase, planter or conversation piece. |
