Old Yellowware Pottery Pig Bank decorated with sponged Rockingham glaze. Lisa McAllister shows this style pig bank in her book of Yellow Ware (bv 175-275). They are also pictured in reference guides of Brush-McCoy and Roseville Pottery, etc., so several eastern Ohio potteries made them. This little guy is marked USA. He measures 5 1/2'' long and 2 7/8'' tall. There is some age related crazing present. One of the craze lines is a little darker on the top running from the slot--but it is crazing as there is no break in the glaze. There is old glue residue from felt on the bottoms of the feet and a dark spot on one foot also from the glue. We have not tried to clean it, but it should come off. This little yellowware pig no chips or cracks. |
