Click for more detail...
784
For sale is this wonderful piece of folk art Pharmaceutical Display of a Mortar and Petle. This is truly a vintage piece, most likely from the latte 1800's early 1900's. It is made of a solid piece of wood that is shaped like the mortar. This is attached to the base and the pestle is a appendage to the mortar, meaning that it does not remove or come off in any way. One piece. It has the original paint on it with the typical Rx insiginia. The overal dimensions of the wooden base are 14 x 14. The moratar is 13 1/2 inches high by 11 inches in diameter and the pestle measures 5 1/2 inches. There is a section where there is wood missing, I have pictured it and the section measures about 3 1/2 inches. It really isn't bad at all, sort of shaved off. There is also a small pice missing from the base, I have pictured it as well. The paint has some chipping but for the age of this piece the overall condition is excellent. It looks like the base was screwed into something because there is a hole in each corner of the base. A fine piece of folk art or Drug Store or General Store memoribilia.

Click for more detail...
3190
Offering this wonderful antique ship diorama. Hard to find and this one is outstanding. Most likely a scene of ocean going boat. Detail is perfect down to the smoke coming from the boat in the foreground left. People, ships wheel, roping--just very complete. The sails are carved wood as is the rest of the piece. Even the waves appear to be carved instead of the plaster. Of course some sails are loose, some stringing is broken but the overall condition is superior. The front frame has been tastefully replaced but the rest of the box is original. Measures 36 inches long, 21 inches tall and about 9 1/2 inches deep. I have more photos I can send.

There is a splotch of something on the paper, looks like it might have been an old link mark that someone tried to erase. Overall framed size is 16 1/2 x 13 1/2.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 1124: Mennonite Handmade Horse Puppet/Marionette
Click for more detail...
1124
This horse puppet is so nice looking. I purchased a horse and an elephant. I am offering the horse. I was told that these puppets were made in the 1920's by an old order of Mennonites in Canada, Phillipsburg, near Kitchner. These puppets were used by the adults to entertain the children. They are hand made and painted. The working stringing is old cotton string and the detail on the puppet is extraordinary. The horse needs to have his strings set up properly. The horse stands about 18 inches and is about 15 inches long. The mane and tail are real horse hair.
