The Holy Bible – Cedar Storage Box – Amalgamated Meat Cutters – Carpenters Union Made – UBC
Amalgamated Meat Cutters, Local 430, most likely presented great vintage cedar Bible box, to the family upon the death of a union member. The box is stamped / marked on rear: Union Made, District Of Nashville, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Of America – Organized 1881 – Reg. Apr 15, 1904
Has two brass hinges at rear and a brass latch closure in front. Size: 8-inches length by 5-1/2 inches width by 1-1/2 height. (outside measurements). Inside front flap has a Christ photo with outstretched arms and a sympathy card, signed Amalgamated Meat Cutters, Local 430. Bottom has an elastic band to hold the Bible in place. Outside is carved: " The Holy Bible"
Condition: generally good, with a few inside edge scratches.
Cedar storage box only, contains no Bible.
