Black Forest Bear - Holding Thermometer
Here’s a very nice quality carved Black Forest Bear, holding a thermometer, which has an " R" on one side at the top, and a "C" on the other side. The carvings is so well done, the teeth and eyes look very real, he just comes to life. The eyes look to be glass, they are so life like, but I believe it’s just the carving effect. Hope the photos show you that! He measures 5 inches to the top of the tree he is holding that has the thermometer on the front side. The base to his outstretched leg is 4 inches in length. Has a very slight scuff to the paw of the leg that sticks out. Great old bear, nice quality through out!

Tramp Art Type Wood Double Hanging/ Match Holder
This is a small wood box, with a double holding area, and has three carvings on the front, and is made to hang on the wall. I ‘m not sure what it was originally made to hold, perhaps was a match holder. It is about the size of a comb box, if it didn’t have the divider. SIZE: 7 inches length, 4 inches width, 1 inch depth. The two inner sections are 2 ½ by 1 inch, with a depth of 1 ¼ inch. Could also have been a stamp or key box? It seems to have some age to it, nice patina. Unique, one of a kind item!

Bottom inside of bowl has a slight area of separation, due to age and wood shrinkage that resembles a tight hairline crack about an inch in length.

Folk Art Serving Tray
Here’s a cheerful folk art serving tray! It is all wood, and has two handles for carrying and a decal of fruit as a center decoration. How cool would this be to serve lemonade outside on a hot day, or to serve and cheer an invalid? Smaller size, so it’s easy to carry: measures 16 inches by 9-1/4, and the handle are substantial. My best guess is this dates to the late 1950’s or 1960’s, the base is plywood and shows some age.

Black Forest Bear – Holding Pen or Thimble
Here’s a standing carved Black Forest Bear, holding what could either be a thimble or a penholder. I believe he was holding a pen from the scuffs on the bottom, but a thimble fits nicely there as well. Nice quality through out – face has expression, and his teeth and eyes look real. He stands 4 ½ inches and on a platform base 3 inches across. The base carvings kind of remind you of a clock face, and have two nails from the bottom up into his legs for extra support, although he looks to be carved from a single piece of wood. Tiny, tiny bottom scuff, rest looks perfect . Note: Thimble and pen are props only and don’t come with this bear.
