This oblong shaped bowl, or planter is marked on bottom: "Red Wing – USA – 835". It is 10 inches in length, 5 ¼ inches width, and 2 inches height, and was made in 1938. Color: sea/green matte glaze. Condition: two specks of extra clay in bowl (manufacturing defect), one end has been bumped and has two tiny fleabites to corners, and one area of glaze drip (manufacturing defect). Design to side is an oval thumbprint pattern. Red Wing Pottery of Red Wing, Minnesota, was a firm started in 1878. The company first made utilitarian pottery, including stoneware jugs and canning jars. In the 1920s art pottery was introduced, and the company closed in 1967.
