Mouli Grater with patent dates on each side and: Mouli Grater - Made in France - is written on the front. Has a red wood handle that turns to operate. Nice older kitchen collectible, the US patent dates are: 2271175 - 2502867- 260- and other Pats. Pending is written on the sides. When opened the length is 14-1/2 inches; and folded it measure 7-1/2 inches. The rotary drum can be changed for either right handed or left handed use. This one has seldom been used, and comes in original box dated 1948 - which has its use instructions: Comes apart for easy cleaning, can be used either right or left handed, you pick either fine or coarse grating by the pressure you apply to cover when using. Paperwork found inside this one dates to 1953. Imported by Mouli Manufacturing Corp Jersey City, N.J. / Container made and printed in U.S.A. / Box has one part of flap missing and shows shelf wear grater is in good/used condition. Grates: food, cheese, nutmeg, chocolate, hard boiled eggs, etc. (one customer uses to grate bread for his bird feeder)
Patented January 27, 1942 by Jean Mantelet and was called a portable rotary grater.
