A very excellent condition soft back book, 5.25" X 8" with 211 pages, titled "A New Look at Black Families" written by an African American, Charles Willie and published in 1976 by General Hall, Inc. Charles Vert Willie is now Eliot Professor, Emeritus at Harvard Graduate School and has been on the faculty for 34 years. In 2005 he was awarded the Career of Distinguished Scholarship Award from the American Sociological Association. This book is compiled of case interviews and field studies of black family life and are the direct result of different investigations in a variety of cities. Very informative. 1976 Roll Jordan Roll, The World the Slaves Made
This paperback book is in much read used condition, measures 5" X 8", has 823 pages, is 1976 First publication by Vintage Books, a Division of Random House and was written by an African American, Eugene D. Genovese. Professor Genovese, born 1930, has a distinguished background having attended Columbia University, teaching at Polytechnic Institute of Brookly Rutgers University and Sir George Williams University in Montreal and chairman of the history department at University of Rochester and in 1973 he was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a Fellow of the Center of the Behavioral Sciences. He bagan writing "Roll, Jordan, Roll" in 1962 after a dacade of reviewing slave plantation records, family papers, slave narratives, and travelers' accounts. He has been published many times.
