5 Wedgwood Barlaston Edme Saucers for Footed Cups This set of 5 excellent condition, 5 5/8" diameter, for footed cup, Etruria & Barlaston Wedgwood Edme pattern saucers are an off white cream color with ribbed rim. Edme is a discontinued pattern, found only in china replacement shops. They have the green underglaze stamp mark of the Barlaston factory which began operation in 1949, following WWII. Mark reads "Wedgwood of Etruria & Barlaston, Made in England, EDME, USA, Des Pat 61298". Two of the saucers have underglaze number stamps. In 1953 Wedgwood began opening "Wedgwood Rooms" in department stores in North America, which began the custom of registering for fine bone china before the wedding. Wedgwood Etruria Edme China 2 Salads, 2 Saucers, 1 Bread Sold as a set are 5 pieces of Wedgwood Edme cream china with very early mark used around 1908 long before the Barlaston factory was opened. The 2 salad/dessert plates are 8 1/8", the bread/butter plate is 6 3/8", and the two tea/expresso saucers for footed cups are 5 5/8". The value for these 5 pieces ranges from $40 to $57.00. These pieces are older with slight difference in weight and size from newer pieces and some have very slight crazing and darkening of color, for whatever reason.
