What an wonderful hat! This women's version of the "top-hat" was made to perch on top of the head and look classy while doing so. Don't you think this looks like it belongs on a set of the musical GUYS AND DOLLS?
This is a Henry Pollak hat, made of wool felt. "Fawntra-- the ultimate--100% Wool" is stamped inside crown, along with "Henry Pollak Inc." Behind the grosgrain ribbon inside the hat, is a tag labeled: "New York Creation", and,(instead of a size) "adjustable". Since this hat is made to perch on top of the hat, size is really not an issue.
The hat is meant to be worn close to the front of the head, which brings the veil down to the chin. Considered a little racy at the time, and yet worn by many otherwise conservative women to perk up a dull outfit.
CHARMING! and perfect for those vintage 40s suits! This hat and veil is in excellent condition--minty, I would say. Purchase includes a hat box from the period. You will be happy with this hat. |
