The first photo and the last are as true as I can get them. .
Made of a deep blue gabardine--a lightweight rayon twill, there is no belt with the dress but the colors of the embroidery could be picked up with a thin belt if one is desired. I think it would look great with a dark pink belt, for instance. The dress has no manufacturer or designer tag inside, so we need to go by measurements for size. There is a two inch hem in the skirt of the dress.
The measurements are: Bust: 35-36" Waist: 28-29" Hips: 38" Underarm to waist: 7" Waist to Hem 23" Sleeve length:18" Nape of Neck to Waist Back 16"
The condition of the dress is excellent. I see no spots, stains or tears. The original metal side zipper is in place and functional, and the original buttons are used for a front closure. The dress is dry cleanable and has been cleaned since its been in my possession.
This dress exudes 1940s and can be dressed up with a period appropriate choker or beads (originally probably worn with large hat and gloves!), and pumps or dressed down with open toe shoes and a canvas bag. This dress is a real keepsake dress and a reminder of how our 1940s sisters adapted to hard realities or the WWII period, while keeping their sense of style!
