Vintage Pearl Detachable Collar
One of the ways to stretch a wardrobe is to add collars to dresses and sweaters. The thirties/ forties brought a good bit of innovation. Whether they were restricted by the economic depression, or by war rations on the amount of clothing that could be bought, this idea immediately doubled the wardrobe!
And collars abounded. Lace collars, pearl collars, tatted collars, rhinestone collars, plain collars, and fancy collars all found their way into the marketplace.
This pearl collar is in very good condition. All the pearls are present. A few have yellowed a bit but it doesn't hurt the effect overall.
A collar like this is great for costume use, especially in the theater. A character can go from casual to dressy in a flash--between scenes. |
