Circa: 40s-50s Condition: Excellent Size: M-L Type: Short Dress Coat Manufacturer: Unknown Vintage 40-50s Winter White Short Dress Coat w/Buttons
I can't tell you what this fabric is. It must be a wool that is bonded to another fabric, but it looks similar to fleece--which it isn't. It's very soft and in very good condition indeed.

The shorter coat was a design accommodation to riding in cars--which can be difficult to do in a full length coat.
There are slash pockets on the side, large matching pearly buttons--a large one at the neck and smaller ones on the large cuffs. This is such a great forties look. It may be slightly later but I would think 40s or early 50s.
This coat is definitely a dress coat. It could be worn with a dress (as shown), with a long dress, or with a pants suit. I think it would look fabulous with a winter white trouser and sweater set or suit. The design is cut roomy and would accommodate a sweater or even a jacket underneath.
There is no size tag in the coat. The measurements are:
Shoulder to Shoulder: 15"
Sleeve Length: 24"
Chest/Bust Area: 42"
Underarm to Hem: 18" I would say that this coat was meant to be taken out dancing! |
