Circa: 1950s-60s Condition: Excellent Size: One Size Type: Tea Apron Manufacturer: Unknown Wow! This is a great apron! Colorful yet not overly so, this unusual tea apron was probably used for showers, teas, and serving at dressy functions of all kinds.

Its design uses paradox as its guide: a mixture of dainty and transparent pale yellow nylon and bright floral print polished cotton to make a pleasing and dressy apron that would brighten up any room.
The effect of the apron changes with clothing color and can be enhanced by using bold colors, especially for stage use. We paired this with bright orange voile which made a pretty stage picture for the teen girl's mother in BYE BYE BIRDIE! Sweet!
In excellent condition, the apron is made of nylon (the top half and sashes of the apron) and polished cotton panels which are added to the bottom of the apron. It has one pocket which matches the bottom panels. The apron is constructed in bound panels which are attached flat (without gathering) to the waist for a flattering look. The measurements are:
Waist with sashes: 60quot; tip to tip Waistband without sashes: 18" Sashes: 21" each Skirt length: 18" Skirt width at bottom: 42"
This is a great apron for anyone wanting to "make an entrance", whether it be on stage or in the dining room. |
