This reproduction 1940s day dress was made by us here at Vintage Dress and Costume! We used vintage *Hollywood Pattern (brand name) to make this dress, and fabric (rayon) from the period--pink and white flower print with a magnified trim. We also used vintage navy buttons that have a rhinestone center.
This is a modified skirtwaist dress.

Shirtwaist dresses of the 40s usually had a straight, pleated or gathered skirt. The skirt is straight on this particular dress. Navy self-fabric belt is included. The closure on the dress is snaps on the left side under the arm, as was called for by the pattern.
