Circa: 40S Condition: VERY GOOD REPAIRED WEARABLE Size: M Type: COSTUME DRESS Manufacturer: UNKNOWN This authentic 40s dress probably started out life as a cocktail dress or dressy party dress. The rhinestone brooch that is sewed on the dress adds a nice and dressy touch. Rhinestone-look buttons adorn the swag on the side. These dresses were the best--bias cut and so sexy and sophisticated.

You expect someone to pull out their cigarette holder and toast you with a glass of champagne.
Beautifully cut, the dress moves well for dancing and would look smashing as is for a party scene on stage or with a fox fur and a large hat and black gloves for outdoor scenes. The color of the dress is darker than appears in many of the photos. I have lightened it in order to show the detailing in the dress. The darker photos are more accurate.
In very good structural condition, we have made a small mend to cover a moth hole at the back. Does not effect the overall look of the dress at all, especially for stage work. There is some fading at the shoulders. Side snap closure.
NOTE: BECAUSE OF THE FADING, THIS DRESS IS RECOMMENDED FOR COSTUME USE ONLY. It won't show at all under the lights (or under a fox fur!) but in "real" life, the fading would show up. Besides theater use, this dress would be great for a theme party or murder mystery game.
Measurements are:
Bust:36-38" Waist:30" Hips:40" Waist to hem:33" Sleeve length:26"
This dress will take you or your audience back 60 years or so to the 1940s WWII era. Would look smashing with a fox fur stole. |
