Circa: 1920s Reproduction
Condition: New
Size: L
Type: Polyester Print Crepe
Manufacturer: Vintage Dress and Costume
We love the 20s and 30s styles and fabrics! That's why we chose to include this 20s-30s day dress pattern with our standard
offerings. We call this style the "Lorraine" Party/Day Dress.

We will be offering this dress in different sizes, colors and prints in the future--so check back with us often!

This polyester crepe party dress is a great dress just for wearing (fits right into today's styles) to weddings and other dressy occasions, for theme parties, or for costume use in the theater for shows like:
MAME,THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, THE BOYFRIEND, SINGING IN THE RAIN, ANYTHING GOES--among many others.

This dress is made of polyester crepe and is the epitome of the scarfy cape look so loved during that "Roaring Twenties" period.

The bodice has a caped neckline, a dropped waist, armhole binding, and side-snap closure for ease in getting on. The skirt boasts a flared cut and a dipped hem that was all the rage in the 1920s.

As I have shown in the photos, the dress can be worn in two different ways. The dropped waist was the norm for the twenties. It was often emphasized with a cummerbund or sash. In the thirties, the emphasis of the natural waistline became popular, and women shifted the sash from the seamed dropped position to the natural waistline.

This particular "Lorraine" dress is a gray-blue with a dramatic cream swirl art deco pattern running throughout. This dress is a size Large. Cream scarf and vintage belt buckle are included. (Hat and beads are priced separately). Because of the particular fabric and the layering of the cape and skirt pieces, no slip is needed and therefore not included with this dress.

The measurements of the pictured dress are:

Bust:up to 38-40""
Waist Area:(natural waist) 38-40"
Underarm to Dropped Waistline: 12"
Dropped Waistline: 39-40"
Dropped Waist to hem front: 28"
Dropped Waist to hem back: 33 1/2"
Underarm to longest point of hem:42"
Hips:9"from natural waist-bellybutton
area): approx. 44" (full)

This dress can be shortened at the waist with a tuck under the waistband to keep the bottom pattern in tact. We will adjust it to fit you before it is sent out at no charge to you. (You can give us the "Underarm to Hem" measurement when you order. This is begun at a place that would cover your undergarment under your arm to the place below the knee where you would like for the hem to hit.)
