This handmade red 30s crepe day dress is a dark cranberry red. It has demure tuck detailing, both at the neckline and below the waist, where it ends smartly in points. The matching belt, white cuffs at the short sleeve edge, and an A-line skirt with under-knee (30") hemline, all speak of the late thirties, and/or early forties.

There is an underarm metal zipper that is functional.
The measurements are:
Bust:40 inches
Waist:32 inches
Hips:44"(9 inches down from waist)
Waist to hem: 30"
Underarm to waist: 8 inches
Sleeve length: 11 inches
Can't you just see the 30s gentle-lady wearing this to a church social with short white gloves and pumps? She may have added a clutch bag and a large flat pancake hat. If you need to go back in time for a show, or just love the late 30s--early 40s look, like I do, this dress should do it!
Condition: Very Good. I see no holes, spots, or stains. The matching belt shows some wear on the inside surface. No odors. The color is very slightly faded toward the hem and is overall slightly darker than photos show. (Red is very hard to duplicate!). Inside seams have been reinforced. What I believe to be the original shoulder pads are present, but are a different fabric than the dress.
This "smart" dress has recently been dry cleaned and is ready to wear! |
