Circa: 1920s Reproduction Condition: New Size: Medium Type: Light Green Cloche Hat w/ Black Taffeta Manufacturer: VDC This one-of-a-kind cloche hat is a reproduction of an actual vintage hat that my mother gave to me. I copied the hat and made a pattern for us here at VDC. I love this style, as it has that authentic feel that is hard to achieve with modern patterns.

This particular cloche is made of a soft suede-feel fabric, and is trimmed with black taffeta roses and a ruffle across the brow.
It is said that the thing that gave the snooty look that flappers were famous for was because of the cloche hat. It was worn so low (directly over the eyebrow)that the woman had to keep her nose in the air to see to walk!
This one would look great with a dressy little black straight or dropped waist dress, perhaps with beads and bracelet that highlight the green in the hat. This hat would fit a medium sized head and would be great for going to the theater or being in a show in the theater! Time period for this style would be mid-twenties to early thirties.
Note: A cloche hat is meant to fit snugly. Original flappers had bobbed hair, sometimes very short.
