Circa: 1969 Condition: excellent Size: Small Type: Viennese Lace and Cotton Voile Manufacturer: unknown This soft off-white wedding ensemble from the late 1960s is a beautiful mixture of style and comfort. The styling came from the popularity of Zefferelli's film, "Romeo and Juliet" that came out in the mid-sixties. Medieval became the perfect wedding look and for several years, dominated the market.
This is one version of the gowns that came into vogue at the time. It also is evidence of a return to natural fabrics during a time when young women began to dislike the formal undercurrent of the early 60s and opted for simpler lines and materials in their wedding wear.
A demure worked lace bodice that has an empire waist, full cuffed sleeves, and voile skirting is accented by a matching Viennese lace trim. This lovely gown is accompanied by a full cathedral veil and matching Juliet cap headpiece. The dress has a sewn in underlining of taffeta.
The condition is excellent.
