Large Fancy Metal Antique Lamp w/ Angel & Fancy Shade This is a large and very decorative lamp with a beautiful angel perched on a scroll. The lamp has lots of ornate scrollwork and openwork. The angel is large and has lovely features. This lamp has the old, original gold and ecru color paint, which is in excellent condition. The base is weighted, making this a very substantial and heavy lamp. The shade is very unique. It is a wonderful compliment to the base. The underneath of base has the original felt bottom fully intact to protect tables being scratched. The shade is finely pleated and has a liner. It has a fancy braided brass gallery above the shade. The shade is clean, with no staining, rips, or discoloration, inside and out. The lamp has an ornate finial to top it off. This is a wonderful angel lamp in good working order and in excellent, original condition.

Ornate Metal Antique Angel Lamp w/ Openwork This is a fancy metal lamp with a large and beautiful angel holding up the light. The angel is kneeling on the base, which is very shapely with openwork and scrolled feet. This lamp has the original switch, cord, and plug. It is in good working order, but could easily be re-electrified. Underneath the base reads, "Leviton" with the number ‘27’ inscribed with an ‘X’ on both sides of the number. This piece is heavy and substantial. This lovely, old angel lamp is in excellent, original condition with age appropriate paint loss, which is evident in the photos.

Inspirational Angel Child Antique Table Lamp, Metal w/ Wooden Base This is a beautiful antique table lamp with a charming angel child sitting down on the base of the lamp, while holding the top part like a lantern. The lamp is metal with a wooden base. The angel’s face is sweet and precious with fine details to the wings, hair, and facial features. The lamp has a round, shapely wooden base that goes up into an attractive floral design all around. The angel hugs the shapely and decorative wooden stem. The top light fixture is metal. The back of the fixture is lightly stamped with the words, "COVET; Patent Applied For 250W 250V". This lamp is all original. It’s electrified and works great. The original turn key switch has an interesting star emblem seen on both sides. The entire lamp has original gold paint, perfectly matching the original metal fixture. The original threaded cord is tight and secure with some age-appropriate wear. The underneath has an original bolt with a patent that reads, "Pat June 06 in USA". This is a wonderful in-Spirit lamp and it is in excellent original condition with very minor paint loss and very minimal age-appropriate wear. Circa 1906.

All-in-One Antique Art Nouveau Mirror, “Hope” Lithograph Print, & Fancy Floral Gesso Frame! / Artist: George Frederick Watts This is a beautiful and inspiring antique lithograph print within a lovely Art Nouveau mirror within a floral gesso frame. The print is titled, "Hope", by famous listed artist, George Frederick Watts. This is one of Watt’s best known works of art. This picture features a blindfolded woman sitting on what is believed to be the world. She embraces a lyre of which every string is broken … but one. Above, the sky entertains a single star. With its blues and grays, the work is reminiscent of some of Picasso’s blue period works, such as his ’Tragedy’. I have included extensive information about this famous work of art and the artist. The print is in excellent original condition with original glass. The crest of the frame has a delicate shell motif flanked by pastel flowers. The entire frame is faced with delicate gesso flowers, vines, and shells. The mirror retains the original frame shop label. The print, frame, and mirror are all in excellent original condition. Fine, original finish and patina to the frame. Old wire hanger. Circa 1910.

"George Frederick (1817-1904) was a Victorian English painter and sculptor associated with the Symbolist Movement. Forsyth notes that for Watts, ‘Art . . . is a branch of sacred hermeneutics. Let natural beauty be what it may, artistic beauty is higher. And why? because it is spiritual. Because you have in Art the finished product of which Nature is but the initial stage’. Art is nature ‘born again’ and ‘is to Nature what salvation is to the soul’.

Though Watts shares a Victorian fascination with death, Forsyth asserts that this fascination with death is not to be condemned as morbid since ‘Like Art itself, Death is one of the great interpreters and expanders of life’. Forsyth writes that of the artists of his day, ‘Mr. Watts is our only artist who is capable of wrestling with death and therefore the only one who understands life’. For beyond death Watts has seen the power of love triumphant and has recognized in death itself ‘the arm of the Lord and the shadow of His wing’. His work therefore expresses a truly ’supernatural hope’.

She has turned her face away from ‘heaven’s light’ ‘and now, with earth searched and heaven to explore, her gaze is not up but down, her heaven-searching power of faith is quenched’. But quenched does not mean despair, for ‘the thirst to believe is still there. Look how the darkened soul stoops and strains for the one string’s note, for the one voice to tell her a gospel that all her achievement has not yet attained, and all the round and mastered world cannot promise. The soul has in its own self and nature a note that Nature has not. But is that note of nature only in the soul? Is it a subjective dream of its own? Is there any promise in the ‘not-ourselves’? . . . Yes, there is one star, though the poor soul sees it not. The painter sees it, and we see it. A star is there and a dim dawn.’"

"In his own lifetime George Frederic Watts (1817-1904), was widely considered to be the greatest painter of the Victorian age, enjoying an unparalleled reputation. His ceaseless experimentation embodied the most pressing themes and ideas of the time. A complex figure, Watts was the finest and most penetrating portraitist of his age, a sculptor, landscape painter and symbolist which earned him the title ‘England’s Michelangelo.’

His fame and renown was not limited to Britain and in 1884 he was the first living artist to have a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, a show so enormously successful that it led to a longer run and a gift of his great work, Love and Life to the American people. His works also found great favour in Europe winning gold medals at the Paris Universal Exhibitions in 1878 and 1889. His influence among symbolists was profound and can be seen in the works of Gustave Moreau and Fernand Knopff.

The work of G.F. Watts is of seminal importance in understanding the Victorian period because he was one of its most notable artistic innovators. Watts’s own refusal to become part of any painting movement coupled with the reaction of early twentieth century critics to all things Victorian left his reputation a little tarnished. Ironically, that outspoken critic of Victorian painting, Roger Fry, considered Watts an exception. Fry recognized his great importance within the British School, as shown by his visits with his students to the Watts Picture Gallery. Until the late 1930s, the Tate Gallery had a Watts room which exclusively showed the work of the artist. The legacy of his Hall of Fame portraits form a major part of the National Portrait Gallery’s nineteenth century holdings and the Tate Gallery’s huge collection are a tribute to his importance."

Large Tall Antique Plastic Christmas Angel Lamp / Night Light / Decorative Statue This is a lovely inspirational, large and tall, antique angel that can be used as a light, lamp, or decorative statue. The material is plastic. A clip-on light can be inserted into the back through its original hole, creating a beautiful, illuminated angel. The light bulb and cord with on/off switch is included with the angel. The angel’s cheeks and lips have a nice blush of color to them and her blue eyes and blonde hair are very attractive. The angel also has large, decorative wings with gold-painted trim on the outer tips. Clutching a book, probably the Bible, to her chest you can’t help but feel at peace when admiring this heavenly statue, especially when she’s aglow. The angel’s dress is adorned with ‘twinkly’ stars, with the bottom ending in a shapely form for the flat pedestal base for easy tabletop display. The bottom (underneath) has cracked and is missing a piece, but it does not keep it from standing. There’s a little staining on one of the angel’s wings and some age-appropriate wear to this piece. This wonderfully large antique guardian angel would be a lovely addition to anyone’s Christmas decorations or as a focal point in any room. Circa 1920’s.
