This is a fine example of a fancy antique Victorian motto titled, "Faith, Hope, and Charity". Unusual black background accentuates the fancy detailed lettering. The floral spray includes calla lilies, lilies of the valley, pansies, and wheat. The frame is a fancy marbleized finish in complimentary colors with original glass. Age appropriate wear. This piece retains its original wood back with 2 of the original cut nails. Sometime ago the points were added to hold the print in the frame. The hanger was added later also. Paper backing is missing. This is a very pleasing motto in excellent original condition. Circa 1890’s. |
