This is a hard to find, large, antique Victorian bedtime prayer with a compelling photographic print of a lovely mother embracing and praying with her young son and daughter by the fireplace. This is the well-known prayer of, ‘Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep…’. The print is bright and in excellent original condition. In the lower right corner of the print, there is a gold stamp that reads, "Copyright Manz, CHI." with the number ‘42’ in the other corner. The words of this bedtime prayer are in a beautiful, bold, and fancy Old English text. Gold-trim highlights nicely compliment the black text and the two borders framing the picture and blessing.

| In the lower left corner, under the blessing, it reads, "Coath Creation". The lower right corner reads, "House of Manz, Chicago". This is a large and attractive antique bedtime prayer. The matting is in excellent original condition. The frame is original to the print and blessing/matting. The wood frame has original grained finish and is also in excellent original condition. Original glass. The nice, original black paper backing is partially torn and missing. Wonderful antique, decorative, gold tasseled cord and wire hanger. Circa 1900. |
