This is a precious antique religious Communion keepsake box. The box is made of white metal. The cover features Jesus with Mary Magdalene sitting at the Last Supper. There are angels and flowers above them. It has elaborate and decoratively embossed fancywork throughout. The box is in the shape of a Bible. The edge of the box is highlighted with gold finish like pages of a Bible. It is hinged with a snap that works great and keeps it tightly closed. The inside of the box is clean. The back of the box has German writing etched into it. The writing reads, "Andenken An Meine Erste Heilige Communion". This translates in English to, "Memory to my first Holy Communion".
