Imperial Germany Service Award Picture This matted and framed picture is a memento of a man's service of one year according to the laws of old imperial Germany. That is according to the inscription at the bottom of the picture where it says: "ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DIE EINJAHRIGE DIENSTZEIT", meaning "As a rememberance of the one year term of service".
A full explanation of the text and who is depicted in included with the picture, as translated for a previous owner in 1982. The matting and framing is very good quality, double matted and the inside filler looks to be linen. There are numerous mends to the picture, the photos show this well. The piece can also be seen in our Edmonds, WA Gallery at 529 Dayton Street (Edmonds Mercantile). The outside dimension of the frame is 24.5" x 28.5".
