Fantastic Japanese Bizen Ware 10
A fantastic piece of Japanese stoneware in the form of this beautiful, classically finished 10" signed vase.
The piece is in pristine condition with no chips, cracks or nicks. It is from the collection of Col. Donald Davis, U. S. Army (Ret.), purchased during his residence in Japan following WW Ii. Col. Davis is a former child actor, using the names John Henry, Jr. & Don Morris, in the old Mack Sennett movies.
The piece is a rich butterscotch in color with splashes of gold, darkening as it flows towards the chocolate base. The rim of the vase is unglazed. The circle inside the rim is glazed in brown with a stamped artist/kiln mark in white to one side.
This is a wonderful example of the Japanese love for the items of understated beauty. The 10" vase is approximately 10" in diameter also. Thank you for shopping at The Treasure Chest.(Item ID:ZZ-13-DD)

Oriental Hand Painted Flowering Cabbage Leaf Pattern 12
A beautiful & unusual hand painted porcelain, flowering cabbage leaf pattern, 12" Oriental charger for your review.
The charger has a Chinese mark on the bottom. The lovely hand painted flowers & leaves make the charger an eye catching & unique decorative addition to any fine home decor.
I would date the item post WW II. It was purchased at an estate sale of a couple who had traveled extensively in the Orient & had many fine Oriental pieces in their home. Thank you for visiting The Treasure Chest.(Item ID:D-06)

Antique Blue & White 15 Inch Oriental Charger
A very nice antique Oriental blue & white 15" porcelain charger for your appreciation.
This piece is from Col. Don Davis, U.S. Army (Ret'd.), former child star in Max Sennett movies, & world traveler. Col. Davis said this has been in his family as long as he remembers & that it was his grandmother's. Col. Davis is over 90 years old.
The piece is very nice & unlike later blue & white pieces, shows it's age with the base rim & the spur marks from the firing stilts. The enameling shows more variation than more modern pieces also. It is in very good condition & the only sign of a 2" crack can barely seen & I believe it was done in the firing of the piece. It does not show in my photos & must be specifically looked for when handling it.
The bird & flower design are quite archaic -- it appears to be blue & white transfer rather than hand painted -- I would say it could be English if not Japanese or Chinese in origin.
This would be a lovely display piece or be used as a serving dish along with your blue & white table service for fine dinning. Thank you for visiting The Treasure Chest. (Item ID:W-21-DD)

Satsuma-Style Covered Porcelain Sugar Basket w/Spoon - c. 1920's
This is a beautiful porcelain Satsuma-style covered sugar bowl with matching spoon.
This item dates after 1920 as both the lid & spoon are marked: "Made In Japan" in black lettering.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, scratches or cracks. There is only very minor gold wear. The design on one side is of gold-haloed Arhat & Kwannon, seated, in elaborate robes & outlined in raised yellow enamel.
There is a robed, gold-haloed Arhat on the opposite side. Even the sugar bowl handle & matching spoon are decorated with raised enamel designs. There are several lotus blossoms along the front & mountains in the background.
The bowl measures 5 5/8" to the top of the handle & approximately 4 1/2" in diameter. It is unusual to find the matching spoon intact with the covered basket but it gives all indication of having been a cabinet piece rather than having been used. We have had it at least 10 years on display. Thank you for stopping at The Treasure Chest. Shipping and insurance are determined after checkout. (Item ID:JJ-06) Add to Shopping Bag

Antique Oriental Brass Vase - Woman & Children In Relief - 6 3/8
A beautiful oriental bronze or brass vase with a woman & two children in elaborate relief. The woman has one child on her lap, holding what may be a cricket or firefly cage or lamp, while a second child lays at her feet, holding a fan. A touching family scene.
I believe it is Japanese as this was purchased with another, larger vase of this type from the same estate, & it's motif is a dragon that carries all the characteristics of a Japanese dragon.
The vase measures about 6 3/8" tall, is beautifully finished with elaborate designs on the robes which drape & flow in a manner found only in the best of this type of work.
The vase has not been polished, but in some of the photos there appears to be polish in the crevices of the design & is a trick of lighting.
It was purchased from the estate of a woman who lived in the orient for a number of years. It is not an export piece & is the only one like this that I've seen. This is truly a wonderful item to display in your cabinet or use on a table as a conversation piece. Thank you for shopping at The Treasure Chest.(Item ID:TT-05)

Antique Japanese Sumida Gawa Pilgrim's Bottle
I find Sumida Gawa fascinating because of the wide variety of shapes, glazes & & textures on each item & no two are identical.
This lovely "pilgrim's bottle" measures 9" tall & 7 1/2" at it's widest point. There are no chips or scratches.
The red matte glaze that is present on these items is about the only thing that wears away. These wares are often mistaken for Banko items but they are totally different.
This bottle has some red glaze worn off on the back lower part of it, but there are no chips, cracks or deep scratches, & it is very good condition.
I find no marks as after 1900 paper labels were used. There are three children in high relief in oriental dress of that day, appearing to be playing & holding items. It's a very pleasant item. Check with us for a budget plan for items of this quality.

The fish dish is approximately 3 1/8" in diameter & measures about 3 1/2" from end of tail to lips. It is the piece that has the artist's signature on it's base.
Col. Davis obtained these pieces when he was living in Japan after WW II. Thank you for visiting The Treasure Chest.(Item ID:X-12-DD)
