KK-07

Antique Cut Crystal Body & Gilt Metal Wing Swan Dish This is an extremely lovely cut crystal body swan has ornate metal head, neck & movable wings. The item is in mint condition with the exception of areas on the gilt metal portions. This does not distract from the beauty of the piece as the head, neck & wings are very ornate, heavily detailed feathers & a rose on each wing, blending into the wing feathers.

The wings swing open & closed, serving as a cover for the heavily cut crystal swan body. The crystal is in mint condition, probably due to the fact it had a heavy pink velvet piece glued to the base which protected the cut crystal base.

It has been many years since I've seen one anywhere near this lovely & in such good condition. The last one I saw was stated to be French. It measures 6 1/2" long & 6" tall. It would make an excellent vanity item for the lady, a conversation piece in your living room or to add to your glass collection. Thank you for visiting The Treasure Chest. (Item ID:KK-07)

Glass Carafe - Heavy, Pressed/Pattern Glass Pattern glass carafe - very heavy & ornate --rivals it's cut glass cousins.

The carafe dates c. 1900 & is very heavy & ornate in pattern. I have not been able to identify the pattern even though I've had it for 40 years. It appears to have been hand blown into a mold.

It measures 8 3/4" tall & is about 6" across at it's widest. When you first see it, you can be fooled into thinking it's cut crystal. This carafe is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, or scratches.

GG-18

Antique Opalescent Glass & Sterling 8" Vase This beautiful vase in opalescent blue glass with silver base is not only lovely but makes an ideal cabinet piece.

The title "Single Lily Spool" is used for this item in the book: "Standard Encyclopedia of Opalescent Glass", second edition, by Edwards, on page 110. It's maker is Jefferson Glass. The featured photo shows a "gold" base but this has the identical base in silver. There are no markings on the base, but the weight & polish appear to be sterling. It is also called an epergne.

The item is in mint condition with no chips or cracks. There is threading up the stem to the underside of the lily. Overall, it measures 8" tall with the base slightly over 2 1/2 inches in diameter. The silver portion has only normal wear that would be expected in an item this age.

This is truly a wonderful piece. Thank you for shopping at The Treasure Chest.

Q-14

Victorian Cased Glass Bowl - Fabulous Antique This beautiful antique cased glass bowl has been in my collection for about 40 years. I believe it gives all appearance of being a Sandwich Glass Factory creation.

The trim on the bowl shows a high uranium salts content, & it is visible & glowing under black light. The color is a lovely rose pink inner lining with white outer casing. The ruffled edge is golden in color from the high uranium added.. It is a very high grade crystal & rings at the slightest touch.

The bowl measures 8 1/2" at it's widest, is 5 inches wide & 4 1/4 inches tall. The bottom is finished as only the finest pieces are, with polished pontil & polished areas on the melon shaped base.

If you love quality, this is the piece for you. I would say it dates c. 1880 or earlier. It is in mint condition. Thank you for visiting The Treasure Chest. (Item ID:Q-14)

The Mat-Su-No-Ko style ruffle & side handle are amber with red. No photo can do justice to this lovely item. It's colors are brilliant because of the high uranium content, found only in the finest finished glass.

This is a signed Galle French cameo glass vase, 6 3/4" tall & 3 1/2" at widest portion. It is signed: Galle, without the star, which indicates that this is really an antique piece.

The mauve floral decorations, on an acid finish off-white with traces of yellow, especially on the neck, make for a lovely combination. It is banjo shaped in form, & appears to be three layers with two or three acid cuts.

Form & color similar to Item 8l on page 29 of "French Cameo Glass" by Blount printed in 1968.

Click for more detail...
S-23

Antique Glass Jade Green Dolphin Candlestick This is a rare jade green antique dolphin candlestick, in very good condition - a great beauty. It is one of a few of this type made in one section instead of being built of parts, as are other types.

This style of dolphin candlestick was used by Ruth Webb Lee, on page 133, plate 64, in her book: Antique Fakes & Reproductions, to illustrate the genuine article. It is also illustrated as Item #67, page 388, & discussed pages 384 & 385 in very excellent book: American Glass by the McKearins which indicates an approximate date of 1850.

The candlestick measures 10 3/4" tall & about 3 3/4" square at the base. This style is known as the "double square base" & often made in one section.

There are minor flakes at the base as is expected in an item 150 years old. The scales are softly contoured as opposed to more recent reproductions.

It has a high uranium salt content, illustrated by use of a black light in one of my photos. This type of candlestick came in many colors, one of the rarest is this translucent deep jade-green. Fragments found at Sandwich Glass Co. suggest this might be used to identify it. As an interesting sidelight, I had a complete appraisal of my collection done by a reputable professional who thought it's condition was too good to be that old; however, a Sothebys buyer visiting her shop supported my identification.

There are no cracks, or chips as found in many of these candlesticks. There are only minor base flakes as can be expected in something of this age.

This is a wonderful item for any glass collector. Thank you for visiting The Treasure Chest. (Item ID:S-23) Add to Shopping Bag

BB-07

Antique Set of 6 Pressed Glass Cup Plates - Roman Rosette Pattern This set of six antique pattern glass cup plate are in the Roman Rosette pattern found in the Lee & Rose book on cup plates which is considered the "bible" of cup plates.

The assigned number is #255 & the plates are concave. They are attributed to the Sandwich Glass Co.

These are of "lead crystal" rather than the soda glass found in some cup plates. Hold the plate in your palm & you get the crystal ring when you flick it with your fingernail.

They are in very good condition with the somewhat uneven edges found normally during the extracting of these small items from their molds in the mid-1800's. Two of the little plates have a flake near the edge which may or may not be from the process. Thank you for shopping The Treasure Chest. (Item ID:BB-07)
