Manufacturer: Richartz, Solingen, Germany The knife has faux snake skin patterned bakelite scales and measures 2 3/4" in length with a 1 5/8" primary blade & a 1 3/16" second blade.
The primary blade tang is inscribed with: RICHARTZ SOLINGEN GERMANY, & lengthwise, the blade is inscribed with: LAMP POST KNIFE.
The 2 blades have no rust but are patinated with gentle age. The primary blade may have been carefully sharpened with crocus cloth, ages ago, with no resulting scratches.
Both blades have good snap & they open to a firm position, without play.

The scales are in good condition without cracks or chips; however, there is a slight up turn on one end of a scale because of the underlying brass plate, visible only on close inspection. This has no effect on functionality.
We believe the knife to be from 1910 - 1920 era, but it could predate 1900.
The knife would be an interesting & unique addition to a collection of small quality vintage & antique knives. It is beautifully made, a product of precision workmanship. Thank you for stopping by The Treasure Chest.(Item ID:P-21) |
