Manufacturer: Oriental A very nice antique Oriental blue & white 15" porcelain charger for your appreciation.
This piece is from Col. Don Davis, U.S. Army (Ret'd.), former child star in Max Sennett movies, & world traveler. Col. Davis said this has been in his family as long as he remembers & that it was his grandmother's. Col. Davis is over 90 years old.

The piece is very nice & unlike later blue & white pieces, shows it's age with the base rim & the spur marks from the firing stilts. The enameling shows more variation than more modern pieces also. It is in very good condition & the only sign of a 2" crack can barely seen & I believe it was done in the firing of the piece. It does not show in my photos & must be specifically looked for when handling it.
The bird & flower design are quite archaic -- it appears to be blue & white transfer rather than hand painted -- I would say it could be English if not Japanese or Chinese in origin.
This would be a lovely display piece or be used as a serving dish along with your blue & white table service for fine dinning. Thank you for visiting The Treasure Chest. (Item ID:W-21-DD) |
