Manufacturer: Japan This is a beautiful porcelain Satsuma-style covered sugar bowl with matching spoon.
This item dates after 1920 as both the lid & spoon are marked: "Made In Japan" in black lettering.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, scratches or cracks. There is only very minor gold wear. The design on one side is of gold-haloed Arhat & Kwannon, seated, in elaborate robes & outlined in raised yellow enamel.
There is a robed, gold-haloed Arhat on the opposite side. Even the sugar bowl handle & matching spoon are decorated with raised enamel designs. There are several lotus blossoms along the front & mountains in the background.

The bowl measures 5 5/8" to the top of the handle & approximately 4 1/2" in diameter. It is unusual to find the matching spoon intact with the covered basket but it gives all indication of having been a cabinet piece rather than having been used. We have had it at least 10 years on display. Thank you for stopping at The Treasure Chest. Shipping and insurance are determined after checkout. (Item ID:JJ-06) Add to Shopping Bag |
