Manufacturer: Oriental A beautiful oriental bronze or brass vase with a woman & two children in elaborate relief. The woman has one child on her lap, holding what may be a cricket or firefly cage or lamp, while a second child lays at her feet, holding a fan. A touching family scene.
I believe it is Japanese as this was purchased with another, larger vase of this type from the same estate, & it's motif is a dragon that carries all the characteristics of a Japanese dragon.
The vase measures about 6 3/8" tall, is beautifully finished with elaborate designs on the robes which drape & flow in a manner found only in the best of this type of work.

The vase has not been polished, but in some of the photos there appears to be polish in the crevices of the design & is a trick of lighting.
It was purchased from the estate of a woman who lived in the orient for a number of years. It is not an export piece & is the only one like this that I've seen. This is truly a wonderful item to display in your cabinet or use on a table as a conversation piece. Thank you for shopping at The Treasure Chest.(Item ID:TT-05) |
