An absolutely elegant & beautiful Minton rose 12 cup & saucer demitasse set for your review & appreciation.
The set dates c. 1900 Minton mark with "England" under the mark. They all have artist signatures & impressed symbols with "Minton" stamped into the porcelain under the glaze.
The pattern is "Minton Rose" #A4801 -- the pattern number is handwritten is red on the photos of the Minton mark.
The quality of detail & quantity of the hand painted floral decorations are superior to sets made at a later date. The cups are almost egg shell thin & just under 2 1/4" tall & 2 1/4" in diameter at the lip. The saucers are approximately 2 3/8" in diameter with "Minton" & symbols stamped in the porcelain under the glaze.
The set is fabulous -- Garlands of hand painted flowers & leaves with an almost oriental look in the border around the cups & saucers. Even A peek inside one of the small cups will reveal a nosegay of flowers.
The set is from the collection of Col. Donald Davis, U. S. Army (Ret.). In addition to being a world traveler, Col. Davis was a child star in the old time movies under the famous director Mack Sennett.
There are no chips, cracks, nicks, discoloration or fading in the set - it is perfect. The pieces "ring" rather than giving off a flat tone when flicked wit the finger. Thank you for shopping at The Treasure Chest. |
