A very nice rare, vintage, cast bronze U.S. Army Air Corps Branch Insignia for your review.
This rare plaque has old layers of paint over the base bronze which has oxidized on the backside to the lovely green.
The plaque is 15 1/2" wide & 7" high. While we have not been able to establish the exact date of this plaque, but base on the aging & patination, we believe it was cast between the formation of the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1926 & the separation of the Air Corps into the U.S. Air Force, a separate military branch in 1947.
It still serves as a branch insignia of Army Aviation & the symbol is used on Army & Air Force aviator badges. This is a desirable & interesting item. Thank you for visiting The Treasure Chest. |
