This is a most fantastic antique Chinese basket, extremely well-made & eye-catching.
It can be used as a decorative focus or as a desert carrier. The basket is a rose wood color with red, gold black & darker scenes & accents.
The inside is decorated with typical Chinese designs & symbols, which are woven into the basket in a darker brown.

This was purchased at an estate sale some years ago with a number of other oriental items dating from c. 1880 - 1920. It is 12" tall at it's highest point and 17" wide.
It is in beautiful condition & very unusual. The shape & depth indicate it might be for carrying a pie -- I have seen a few labeled for that use but none as elaborate or tightly woven. We offer lay away plans. Thank you for visiting The Treasure Chest. |
