A beautiful antique English hand painted porcelain hair receiver for your dress or display case.
This is another wonderful item from Col. Don Davis' collection. Col. Davis was a child actor in the famous Max Sennett movies under the names of Marion Davis & John Henry, Jr. His eclectic collection was amassed in his travels throughout the world.
The hair receiver measures 4" in diameter & is 3" tall with the lid on. The main theme of the beautiful piece are hand painted butterflies, birds & sprigs of flowers.

The base of the receiver has an oval, ornate mark topped with a crown. A banner through the center is marked: DUCAL, which I believe is the pattern. The words CROWN WARE. The words TRADE MARK are in the top border. The company is A. G. R. Co. Ltd. England, which stands for A. G. RICHARDS, a well known English company.
The piece is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or scratches. The is minor crazing in the body glaze but none on the lid. Thank you for visiting The Treasure Chest. |
