A lovely 19th century porcelain serving dish by KPM, with transfer, hand painting & gold detailing.
The piece is in excellent condition, especially considering it's age. It appears to have been used for mainly display purposes. There are no chips, cracks or scratches. It has lovely floral sprays in both transfer pattern & hand painting. The gold detailing is in excellent condition with little wear.
The piece measure 12" long, 9 1/8" wide & 4 1/2" to the top of the lovely ornate center handle. The mark is the 19th century green underglaze mark "KPM" with a mark above it. There is a series of numbers on the base in red "376" over a line & "761". There also appears to be an underglaze impressed mark which I cannot make out.
KPM stands for Krister Porcelain Manufactory Of Germany. They are known for their fine porcelain & are still in business, but in a different type of service pieces.
This is a lovely piece that makes a wonderful display piece but also is a fine piece that can be used with pride for fine dining. Thank you for visiting The Treasure Chest. |
