This fantastic compact is unusual in that the lid is made of one solid piece of mother of pearl.
The back is made of 4 pieces -- most items of this type are made up of smaller pieces of MOP. Even the back side of the compact is covered with MOP. It is extremely well made -- the compact has piano hinges -- a sure indication of quality workmanship.
The compact appears to have not been used -- the only sign of age is the mirror has an area of fogginess. The edges of the mirror appear beveled. There are no chips, cracks or scratches.
The box measures 3 1/4" in length, 2 1/2" wide & just under 3/4" thick. The puff & inside of the powder box do not appear to have ever been used -- it is immaculate.
