Pine Wall Box 19th century North Carolina or Virginia You are looking at a lovely wall box probably from North Carolina or Virginia. It is made out of pine, blacksmith made nails, from the 19th century, and it is slightly less than 14 inches tall. It was probably used to hold candles or pipes.

Early 19th Century Wooden Mortar & Pestle w/Iron Bands This is a wooden mortar and pestle datineing from the early 19th century or possibly late 18th. It has an old blacksmith or copper made "make do" repairs to hold a forming crack together. It adds to the character of the piece.

Most every household in early America had a similar mortar and pestle in their kitchen to grind spices and cooking other ingredients. Such pieces also found medical and healing use.

Early 19th Century Wooden Mortar & Pestle This is a wooden mortar and pestle datineing from the early 19th century or possibly late 18th. It is 8.5 inches tall. The motar is nicely turned with a distinct foot and no less than 9 grooved bands. The pestle is alse well turned. There are also numerous small cracks from the shrinking wood as it has dried out over the centuries. They add to the character of the piece.

Most every household in early America had a similar mortar and pestle in their kitchen to grind spices and cooking other ingredients. Such pieces also found medical and healing use.
