Antique Kentucky Buttocks Basket
This small Buttocks Basket is entirely hand-crafted from split-hardwoods, most likely in Kentucky, and probably intended for berry gathering. The basket has 12 hand-carved ribs, not including the woven over bottom center rib and the basket rims. The central handle and bottom divider is all one piece held together at the rim with old round head nails. The basket is in very good condition with only a couple of minor splits and one nail missing on the handle. VERY NICE!
