Pair of Oval JASPERWARE Plaques - Shafer & Vater Offered is a pair of oval jasperware plaques. I believe the plaques to be made by Shafer & Vater and date to approximately 1900. Each plaque depicts a classically garbed woman attended by a cupid. The plaques are unusual in the fact that they have several colors to them. One plaque has a green background and the other has a slightly soft yellowish background. Each plaque measures approximately 7 1/2 inches by 6 inches. Each plaque has impressed numbers along with fractional written numbers. There are holes at the top of each with wire through them to hang. Both plaques are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Shipping with insurance will be $15.00 in the Continental USA.

G798T

Civil War Era OLD PARIS VASE For sale is a unusual Old Paris vase that dates to the Civil War era. The background color of the vase is a matte color inconsistent dark blue which in areas looks to be stained. There is some scuffing to the blue background. There is a lovely hand painted profile of a woman on the front of the vase with white jeweling on the upper half of gilt surround of the profile. There is some gilt wear to the decoration. I have never seen an Old Paris vase with this type of matte finish and I almost wonder if this vase missed being re-fired again to give the vase a cobalt finish. The vase is unmarked on the bottom and stands approximately 8 1/2 inches tall and the base has a diameter of approximately 3 1/4 inches and the opening has a diameter of approximately 3 inches. Shipping with insurance will be $15.00 in the Continental USA.

K178

Late 19th Century Handpainted SEVRES Style Covered Box Offered is a round Sevre style handpainted covered box. The scene on the lid as well as the interior floral sprays are handpainted. While the markings on the bottom would indicate the box to have been made in 1771 I believe these marks to be inaccurate. The interlaced Ls Sevre marks are one of the most forged marks in porcelain. There was a great desire in the 19th century to acquire so-called Sevre porcelain from the golden age of the company, hence many forgeries came into existence. While I believe the box to be a forgery it is never the less a very nicely executed piece. There is a signature on the bottom of the lid painting which looks like lev. I also believe that the box is not hard paste porcelain as the undecorated porcelain areas are creamy color rather than a very white color. The box has a diameter of approximately 5 inches and stands approximately 2 1/4 inches high. The box is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is a very slight scuff mark on the top sky area of the lid painting. There is also minor gilt wear. Shipping with insurance and handling will be $20.00 in the Continental USA.

K193T

Sevre Style Cobalt Blue Oval Compote, Circa 1900 For sale is a lovely Sevre style compote with gilt metal fittings that dates to approximately 1900. The background color of the porcelain is cobalt blue with much gilt work. The center of the compote has a hand painted pastoral scene that is signed Verjot surrounded by a fancy rococo gilt border. I can find no marks on the compote so I cannot say for sure who made it. From the underneath of the base the porcelain has a cream color to it, that would indicate it to be a soft paste porcelain and not a hard paste porcelain. There is crazing to the porcelain, common to soft paste porcelains. The oval gilt metal mount on the top of the compote is attached by a type of plaster, some of which is disintegrating with age(See Photo). The gilt metal base is stamped made in France. The compote is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is however some minor gilt wear consistent with its age. The compote stands approximately 6 1/2 inches tall and the oval basin has a length of approximately 14 inches and a width of approximately 8 3/4 inches. This is a very nice looking piece that has a very elegant aged look. Shipping with insurance will be $25.00 in the Continental USA.

S147T

SEVRE Type Hand Painted Urn, Made In France For sale is a covered urn made in France with a celeste blue background and a central reserve painted with a bouquet of flowers and having gilt metals adornments. The urn is a Sevre type, it is marked on the bottom with over glaze marks made in France. I believe the piece to date to approximately 1935. The lid is non-removable. The urn stands approximately 12 1/4 inches tall and has a base width of approximately 3 1/2 inches and a width from end of handle to end of handle of approximately 5 1/4 inches. The urn is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is a slight indentation on the top of the lid(not damage but a flaw in the manufacturing). Shipping with insurance will be $18.00 in the Continental USA.
